They pretty much set off on the right foot, getting a good review in "Music Week" and pretty much got queries from record companies immidiately, then realised that they had never played live before. And that they only had nine songs after putting the companies off for six months. They signed with EMI sometime in 1992 (I think).
1992 was a pretty big year really, since they also managed to get to support Carter after meeting them in the USA, and while on that tour they met Steve Hillage who offered to work with them on their debut album, "A Map of the Universe by Blink", although that didn't manage to be released till 1994, due to the amount of time they spent playing live music... they also supported Crowded House sometime between 1992 and 1994. They also appeared on their very own phonecard in 1992.
Sometime in 1994 they were involved with a couple of other bands over their name with another band named Blink in the USA, resulting in the other band changing their name to Blink-182. They seem very adamant that there was no court cases involved, just a friendly phonecall!
1993 and 1994 saw the release of the album mentioned above, as well as four singles: "Going to Nepal", "It's Not My Fault", "Chello" and "Happy Day".
For the next few years I've got no idea what happened to them. Sometime between 1994 and 1998 they signed a contract with Mutant Sound System, a New York based company, and they have spent some time in the USA, playing at the Guinness Fleadh in New York, in 1997.
In March 1998 they release their second album, "The End Is High", in the US. They spent some time promoting their album in the New York area, playing various gigs that I have only sort of heard about. They also turned up in the studios of radio Dublin in 1999, promoting a new single but I don't know the details of that.
1999 saw the demise of their current label, "Paradigm Associated Labels" leaving them free in the US, although they still had contracts with Denon Columbia Records for Japan and Festival/Mushroom Records for Australia. Much of 1999 and 2000 was spent on tour with a myraid of other bands (and I still managed to miss them!)
In 2000 they finally managed to release "The End is High" in Ireland...
